Why the 2005 Toyota Tundra?

Front seat room

Only full-size pickup available with a true full bench seat. All others are split design that do not fit three grown men easily.

Reliability & durability

Zero problems so far. It tows and carries a slide-in camper without complaint.

Powertrain performance

Lots of torque from just off idle. Appropriate gearing. Previous 1994 F-150 suffered badly from under gearing. 4x4 system works flawlessly.

Past personal experience

Previous owner of 1984 Hilux and 1993 T-100. Toyota took care of all issues, even after warranty.

Discounts & incentives

The "deal" was $19k for a $26k MSRP

Why Not the 2005 Toyota Tundra?

Exterior styling

Too "rounded" in shape. Prefer "boxy" shape. Rocker area extends outward. Prefer straight sides. Three spoke plastic wheel covers are just ugly.

Interior styling

Oval shaped center area for audio and HVAC controls. Rounded shapes are too "car like". Prefer simple, flat dashboard.

Fuel economy

15/18 EPA at least partly due to the lack of V-6 or manual transmission option with 4x4. Comparable GM trucks are better in this area.
