285820 mi C $119 Left Inner CV joint needed replacing - it has been having constantly increasing vibration for over 200,000 km. 
308140   The clutch design has a weakness, and after almost 500,000 km, it was time to replace the dual-mass flywheel with a single-mass flywheel system.  
341620   Inner Right side CV Joint wore out. Replaced with used unit on hand. 
353400   Rivets inside differential gave way and shot through the housing, losing transmission fluid and destroying transmission. Not uncommon on high milage VWs 
438960   Shifter Counterweight from the linkage was worn causing difficult shifting. 
504040   Left Outer CV joint broke down.

122000   Replaced passenger-side axle. The inner boot had ripped, and the upcharge for the whole assembly was small enough that I decided to not attempt to rebuild the inner joint. Also replaced ball joint.

184000   Transmission differential is held together with rivets, the rivets separated and caused wear on the transmission case. the worn metal caused the differential to fail.
