136000   Aisin Warner AW55-51SN Automatic Transmission shifting erractically and clunking between gears and in/out of park. Replaced valve body. Shifting is much improved; still a bit of clunking. Front suspension Strut Mount Top rubber seats both failed - rubber around metal bushing failed. Happens about every three years....also replaced sway bar end links since the last two times they were also bad. 
137000   Coolant Expansion Tank lower hose failed -- leaking badly. Replaced hose. 
137000   Coolant reservoir tank outlet flange failed (plastic too old?). New hose would not maintain a seal. Replaced tank.

152000   ETS light on.Car went into "limp home" mode.Towed to Volvo dealer.Scanned with computer & said it was battery cable problem although other fault codes pointed to Elect. Throttle Mod.(which was under warranty).Replaced 1 battery cable myself.Prob.not fixed 2nd trip in a week for Electronic Throttle Module problem.Dealer said it was bad battery cables and replaced 2 for $576. ETM under warranty but they refuse to replace. Picked up car and broke down again the next day. Volvo dealer wanted to perform ETM cleaning ($550)and then replace PVC ($600) before replacing ETM under warranty. I removed the ETM myself and had it rebuilt by firm in Colorado for $600 plus shipping. Replaced it,problem solved. Not happy with Volvo. 
153000   Replaced broken (worn out) upper motor mount 
158000   Drive shaft to rear wheel had a bad CV Joint that was making a lot of noise and needed to be replaced. Part was $280 + labor $220. 
160300   Transmission died. $2,600 for a reman from Volvo. $2,000 labor.

While in shop, the main suspension parts were replaced as well. Struts, shocks were replaced as the car was noticeably getting more bouncy on bumps and swayed more around corners. This is the first suspension job in the 9 years of the car's life.

145000   Ball joints/Tie rod ends worn. after 11 yrs and 150KMiles pretty good service. Installed door actuator, which was not the correct part. Resolved with a mechanical adjustment. 
146000   Leaking front strut/shock. Replaced.  
152000   Replaced lock module on passenger door--door window/lock controller in the armrest. Starter relay replaced 
158000   power locks on two doors failing, only work intermittently. Diagnosed, ordered part.

Throttle body cleaned. Transmission jumping/lurching when up shifting & downshifting after 30 min of driving. Transmission fluid replaced. Problem reduced, not eliminated. 
129000   ETS light on intermittently, codes checked did not indicate ETS issue but did report faulty brake pedal switch. Switch replaced, ETS light continues to come on intermittently every 2-3 days. 
136000   Rear brake caliper seized. Caliper and rear rotors replaced. Front brake hose leak found. Hose was replaced. Pinhole leak in coolant bottle. Coolant bottle replaced. Small coolant leak found in heater core. No action taken.
