Buick Enclave Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr SUV 288-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
More than reasonable for a 5000 lb vehicle. Benefits of aero design ( for an SUV ) and six speed transmission both contribute. see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
24 - 28 mpg summer highway driving see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6

for an 8 passenger vehicle that can tow 4,500 pounds. I cannot complain about 19.3 mpg city and 24.7 mpg highway. see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Better than competition with regular gas see full Buick Enclave review

Honest 23 mpg on the freeway. see full Buick Enclave review
Buick Enclave Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2011 0 The fuel economy is abysmal and as far as I know, Buick STILL doesn't offer a hybrid option. The best mileage I've been able to get on long road trips with mostly highway driving is 22-23 mpg. City driving, however, stubbornly stays at 14-15 mpg, no matter what I do! :( see full Buick Enclave review
2009 4dr SUV 288-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Well under (15-20%) below the EPA ratings, though the engine is STILL brand new (<400 miles total). see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
In town much less than advertised. O.K. (18-19) on freeway. see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
This is the one thing that is a weak point. at 12-16 MPG, this car could use a larger and more efficient engine. Had GM not folded, there was talks of a hybrid version (which still may come out as a Caddy) which we would definitely buy without hesitation. see full Buick Enclave review

Car is still in break-in period, but not seeing anything close to advertised mileage. see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6

Hey, at $4.00/gallon getting only 22 mpg hurts. We take the econo-car most of the time. see full Buick Enclave review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6

It actually gets great mileage for its size and weight, but hey, its not a Prius. see full Buick Enclave review

A quick comment about motor oil: Castrol GTX Extended Mileage improved my observed MPG by 2! I have always run Castrol GTX, the non-synthetic, cheapest bottle, "dino" oil. It has always performed well as far as I could tell, but I saw a $15 jug at Wal*Mart intended/designed for the 75,000+ engines out there. On a whim I tried it, and instead of my mileage averaging 19-21, I actually got a run of 22.9. The 22.9 MPG was on a strictly highway cruising trip of 4 hours total, but I was completed surprised. I switched back to the normal GTX at the next oil change, and my mileage dropped back to 19-21 MPG. I always change oil around 4-5,000 miles. I always use high quality filters like Mobil 1. see full Mazda B-Series Truck review
