6-speed shiftable automatic FWD		 Many people probably decided on a Kia, and specifically a Sportage over other makes and models because of the advertised fuel economy numbers. Since day one, this vehicle ALWAYS, I want to stress ALWAYS, underachieves advertised mpg numbers. Took 2 round trips that were 360 miles one way, ALL highway, and best mpg were 26.2. That is 6 mpg LESS than advertised, and even with new EPA ratings, still 4 less. When driving a combination of 1/2 highway, 1/2 suburbs, attain 21-23 mpg which is less than "combined" mpg rating. Haven't driven an entire tank of city driving, but after measuring MPG for mostly suburb driving, get 17-19 mpg which is 3-5 mpg less than advertised city rating. 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 I'd love to have better mileage; but, I also want cargo capacity and comfort. That's the tradeoff. The newer Traverse has a 9-speed transmission that no doubt helps it get a few more miles per gallon but it also has auto stop/start (which I'm not fond of). Mileage on the trip to and from New Jersey was right at 24 MPG--when I remember my last Chevy (IROC-Z28 with L-98 engine) I realize that was the same mileage I got from a car that had little utility. see full Chevrolet Traverse review

6-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 Fuel economy literally sucks!! I guess it's the price you pay for driving a big vehicle with all-wheel drive. I also own a new GMC 4x4 quad cab truck with a 6 liter engine. My truck gets better fuel economy than my 3.6 liter Traverse. Maybe I just got stuck with a lemon. I'm told that fuel economy is supposed to get better once the engine gets more km's on it. I doubt it will improve very much at all to notice any savings at the pump. see full Chevrolet Traverse review
