Ford Taurus Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2011 4dr Sedan 263-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
With 28 to 30 mpg on the highway with a vacation load of luggage, food and other equipment she takes to the road with ease and comfort I never had in any car I previously owned. Mileage is close to the intermediate size Buick I used to drive but this car is much more comfortable and worth the mileage difference. see full Ford Taurus review

Ford Taurus Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2011 4dr Sedan turbocharged 365hp 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
My average MPG is about 24 right now. It does better on the highway and not as well around town. I do not drive it hard. I am using (per Ford) Regular 87 in it and it seems fine. I ran one tank of 93 Premium and did not notice a difference in performance or mileage. see full Ford Taurus review
2008 4dr Sedan 263-horsepower 3.5L V6
6-speed automatic FWD
It's got a 20 gallon tank and I basically never see 400 miles on the trip counter. 20mpg in mixed use (almost 40 mile round trip commute) has been something to get used to after living with a 4-cylinderMazda 6. In addition, when I hit 1/4 tank on the gas gauge, the range computer plummets to the point that I start planning a fuel stop within 50 miles of the 1/4 tank mark. I don't know if this is unique to my car or not. see full Ford Taurus review
2005 4dr Wagon 153-horsepower 3.0L V6
4-speed automatic FWD
Only getting about 4-500 km per tank of gas see full Ford Taurus review
2002 4dr Wagon 200-horsepower 3.0L V6
4-speed automatic FWD
22 or 23 MPG at best on the highway is mediocre but not terrible given the size and 24V V6. see full Ford Taurus review

2011 4dr SUV 166-horsepower 2.4L I4

2005 4dr SUV 160-horsepower 2.4L I4

This is my only major gripe with the vehicle... I seem to get a consistent 22mpg, whether it is city driving, long flat highways, or mountains. If I go out of my way to drive conservatively, or use a medium-to-heavy foot with the aid conditioner, the difference is completely negligible... it's pretty much always 22mpg. see full Honda Element review

20 mpg city, 24 mpg hiway, low for such a small, lightweight car. see full Honda Element review
