Sep 2017157000 miUS $850 | Problem: excessive vibration & low pitch noise at high-speeds (highway) Diagnostics: worn out outer tie rods Solution: change tie rods (same trip: also changed the front tires, (maybe as a result of the worn tie rod ends), including alignement)
Dec 2017161500 miUS $326 | Problem: front-right CV boot torn, spilling grease in the wheel area Solution: front-right axle replaced by a used (but functional) one. Problem: excessive coolant leak (from max to min in less than a week) when car cools down after driving it. (Supposed) diagnostics: leaking thermostat housing Worked performed: thermostat, thermostat housing & connecting hose Took the car on a road trip right after. Coolant leak still here (had to refill 3 times in 4 days). Repair was not successful. Went back to the shop a week later.
Jan 2018163500 miUS $40 | Problem: excessive coolant leak (from max to min in less than a week) Diagnostics: defective water pump Worked performed: water pump changed (also replaced "for free" clamps for hose attached to power steering reservoir (small leak) Problem: Noise and irregularity when braking at low-speed (with moderate -r-r-r-r sound). Diagnostics (by mechanics): irregular rotor surface (front-left rotor). My mechanics wanted $190 just to resurface the rotor. Work performed: went to Pepboys, bought a new rotor, replaced the rotor. |
