The bigger issue is with the power steering fluid leaking, the shop said it'd take the entire steering rack replaced to fully correct the problem (which costs >$2,000), but we chose the easy way of putting a "plug" in that only costs $50. The mechanic said the "plug" might last as long as the car's life. So we'll see to that.
