282-horsepower 4.7L V8 5-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range

111000 mi Error code p0986 shift solenoid "E" Control circuit High. Light came on but was driving fine. Everywhere I read pointed to the connector at transmission. I looked at it and it seemed ok not corroded like others reported. I drove it and it shifted like crap the connector was a cause. I took apart again cleaned some put dielectric greese in and is has been working great and no error codes.

Truck had wheel bearing noise and a leaking front axle. Truck sees considerable amount of off-road and back road use. Local, independent shop replaced front wheel bearings and... replaced the passenger side front axle and did an alignment. A week later. Rear axle seal started to leak. I checked rear axle bearings and determined they were worn out with excessive play. Shop removed both rear axles, replaced bearing and seals.
203000 mi

US $1200
Axles started leaking again for the third time after initial seal replacement. Shop determined the axles were warped and needed to be replaced. Replaced axles. Within a day of the repair, one of the rear brakes locked up due to incorrect adjustment from axle work. Returned truck to shop and the shop replaced rear brakes. Shop did not bleed brakes and there was almost no pedal. Limped the truck home and bled the brakes at home removing a bunch of air.
237000 mi

US $300
Passenger side front axle started leaking. Replaced axel and seal. Previous repair of same item by independent shop used poor quality parts.
66000 mi

US $130
Previously attempted transmission fluid change to sealed transmission did not refill the fluid to the proper amount resulting in random slippage aggravated by quick stops and hard cornering. Brought the vehicle to Valvoline lube shop.
66400 mi

US $166
Tranny was still slipping and, in cold weather, was very difficult to get into gear. Apparently the dealer has the special tool to fill the tranny appropraitely and I was down 2 quarts. Additionally, they lubed the linkage and its working. Tranny was still slipping and, in cold weather, was very difficult to get into gear.
