302-horsepower 3.5L V6 7-speed shiftable automatic AWD

35000 mi Loud whine coming from drive shaft or back of transmission. Heard it driving home from the dealership the first day. The Mercedes field representative told me it was a "characteristic" of the car so they could avoid triggering the California lemon law by making a third repair attempt. When I pointed out that neither I nor the service manager found this "characteristic" on any other E-Class MB he just kept repeating it was a "characteristic" and they could do nothing. I finally determined it was the bearings in the center support of the two-piece drive shaft and got rid of the POS automobile.
23200 mi vibration when turning slowly planetary gear replace 4matic
42000 mi

US $1000
Transfer case sealed, planetary gears replaced because the car vibrates strongly when turning left or right at low speed
