10300 mi Car indicated a dead battery, and acted as though the battery was dead, but it was the on-board computer control systems. This problem is intermittent. Dealer could not duplicate nor diagnose. It happened again a month later.
11000 mi Car indicated a dead battery, and acted as though the battery was dead, but it was the computer control systems. Dealer could not duplicate nor diagnose. One more time and it will be returned for refund under the lemon law.
13000 mi Exact same problem as previous two reports. This time, the dealer put in a new battery. So far, it is working fine, but it usually takes about 6 weeks to manifest itself, so it's too early to say it's fixed. If it repeats, it's a lemon.
37127 mi After short time of running, the air flow out of the AC would drop to almost nothing. Dealer had TSB for similar problem on the 5 series sedans. They moved one sensor and reprogrammed a value in the computer. This is the second trip to the dealer to fix the AC. This time they actually put gauges on the AC system and discovered that the fluid was low. They evacuated the system and recharged it. No charge because they screwed up the first time I came in for this problem
16000 mi One of the parking lights stopped working. The cars computer notified me of the problem - "Parking lamp malfunction". The dealer said there was a TSB. It was fixed under warranty.

32000 mi Computer was displaying error message for camera and park sensor system. Diagnosed as front driver side parking camera. Replaced both front cameras and camera cables.
28000 mi Computer system required re-instalation
37000 mi The battery appears not to hold a charge. The car was driven at highway speeds for an hour, the 'charge battery' warning still came on. The engine does not automatically turn off at stops. The warning has turned off, but the engine does not turn off at stops. There is a message that displays the auto-turn off symbol with a line through it. We were told by the service people, at temps below 10F, the battery needs a trickle charger to hold a charge. We bought one. We charged the battery on a weekend night, overnight, once a week. The problem went away. Personally I think this is bad design on BMW's part - too much draw on the battery.
42000 mi Air conditioning was not working. Dealer replaced condenser under warranty

4700 mi iPhone would not stay connected/synced to iDrive.

8300 mi At about 7,500 miles idrive screen display stopped working. Diagnosed as "radio head unit" defective and replaced. I was told retail cost of repair if not on warranty would be about $2,000.
8000 mi In for a second replacement radio. Vehicle wouldn't play satellite radio or some book-on-CD recorded books. Replacement radio seems to fix all but CD issue.  Rear hatch opens when the vehicle is in the driveway. A design defect triggered by inadvertent button pushes on the remote while in one's pocket.
28000 mi This car's CD player can't play more than half of the commercially produced books on CD that I have used with no problem in numerous other non-BMW vehicles. The dealer can't resolve it and a call to BMW's "genius" group went nowher
35800 mi Continuation of same problem described previously -- many CDs do not play on CD player. Dealer consulted with manufacturer for several days. Not resolved. Supposedly awaiting BMW engineer further input. Dealer tells me a BMW engineer has now told them my CD player, unlike any vehicle CD player I have ever used, cannot play standard recorded book CDs for some format incompatibility reason. Why don't they advise of this limitation before sale

Both remotes battery failed after trip to garage on a car with 29K. Very strange as they both worked before.
22816 mi Received battery warning (Discharging) and called BMW where I was told the car was not being driven a lot. (True as I retired and the car had been stored in garage during cold snap -30F) I brought car in for service and left overnight as they charged battery. 1860 mi Blower motor sucked in a leaf and was making a "piece of paper in a fan blade" sound when using recirculating air. Dealer took it apart and took out the leaf.
2480 mi Another leaf was sucked into the blower motor. The dealer wouldn't tell me why it happened again, but I looked it up and it's because the microfilter is located AFTER the blower motor. They took the leaf out again.
21080 mi Vibration through dashboard when AC turned on. Dealer refused to fix and BMW refused to fix, stating that it is normal. A loud droning vibration from a luxury car is not normal. They probably didn't want to pay for taking the dash apart.

My driver's side reverse light was out. I switched the bulbs and found out it was not due to a bulb. My car was rear ended in July, so I first took it to the body shop that repaired it. Rear Right taillight LED assembly failed (right before my inspection was due). One row was dead and the car was showing an error message. I found that the assembly is not repairable and ordered a new tail light assembly on Amazon for around $60. I think the OEM is $250+. Looks like these fail all the time considering the number of people that bought the aftermarket part. The other day I found that the light pipe LED is now dead on my other tail light so it looks like I am going to have to drop anther $60 to fix that. BMW is really letting me down as LED should last a million years if the circuits are properly designed. Chinese are getting a thumb up for making cheap knock off parts for the E90 platform. Rear Left tail light assembly also failed shortly after. Again bought knockoff China made part on Ebay for $52 and back in business. Hopefully these last longer than OEM and probably the car itself :)

Tried to get into the car after it was sitting for a day and it was completely dead. No lights, no dash, no door locks. Battery was tested as fine at the jump points under the hood. Forum reseach found that there is an issue with the B+ cable which goes from the battery to the fuse box. The connection to the fuse box rattles and wears out over time at which point the fuse box loses all power from the battery. Was fixed by splicing in a new B+ cable. This is a part that was created specifically to address this problem. It was a recall for all 2007 - 2011 3-series, except the M3. M3 has identical part numbers for both the batter cable and fuse box as other 3-series vehicles.
