5-speed automatic RWD		 Gas mileage is not too great. Essentially, it is no better than many larger trucks. Long trip highway mileage averages 19.5 mpg, but in-town driving really pulls it down. My driving is 75% highway, but just that 25% town driving pulls the mileage down to about 17. see full Dodge Dakota review

4-speed automatic FWD		 I bought this car almost specifically for my "road" car, for trips, but do occasionally use it around town. I don't know how the other reviewers are driving their cars but I get what I think is great mileage, mid-teens around town and 28-29mgh on trips/hwy at 75MPH. The average is 8mpg. The EPA estimates 17 in the city. They are off their rocker. This car sucks gas in city driving. 4-speed automatic FWD		 City gas mileage is pathetic. Since new I was lucky to get 10 mpg in the city, but in stop and go it's 8 mpg. When the car was newer, I took it to the dealer, and they checked everything out. I was told that it's a big V8. The Northstar engine is an embarrassment. see full Cadillac DTS review
