2005 Ford Taurus Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by blueoval005

Powertrain performance
The Vulcan V6 is an underestimated engine. It has relatively low power at 155hp, but a surprising amount of torque (especially at low revs) for great pulling strength. For example, this same engine has been a workhorse in the Ranger pickup for 2 decades.
Driving position & visibility
The large amount of glass means that there are little to no blindspots around the car. The driving position is pretty high for a passenger car, especially if you adjust the seat to just the right position. It comes close to feeling like a small crossover.
Cargo capacity
The trunk is sufficiently large on my sedan, but there are still times when I regret not looking at the wagon version instead. And being a car instead of a truck/SUV, its 1500 lbs towing capacity is not very useful.
Color choices
Most of the color options are muted, and very few are actually bright colors- the OEM green, red, blue, and gold paints have normally been dark, subtle hues instead of bright ones. I think the Taurus body looks fantastic in Toreador Red or Patriot Blue.
Interior styling
Some interior color choices are questionable to me; they used to offer green, lavender, maroon, and even light pink interiors on these cars, but I think ith should have always been limited to black, gray, and tan; much more classy that way.
