Honda CR-Z Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2014 2dr Hatch 130-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid
6-speed manual FWD
I have averaged about 40 MPG for the 3500 miles I have driven. I feel this is very good since most of my driving has lots of hills, stops, turns, and the speed limit on our interstate highways is 70 MPH. see full Honda CR-Z review
2011 2dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid
6-speed manual FWD
In real life, potential to be much better than official ratings. My 6 speed manual current average in all winter driving (have not driven during the summer yet) stands at 43 mpg (us). see full Honda CR-Z review
2011 2dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid
6-speed manual FWD

2011 2dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.5L I4 Hybrid

MPG is quite variable. I've seen 28 in short city driving up to 48 when hypermiling on the highway. see full Honda CR-Z review

Ford Explorer Sport Trac Real Gas Mileage: Cons

2008 4dr SUT 292-horsepower 4.6L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD w/low range
99 Dodge Durango with 5.9 V8 got better fuel economy with same driving habits. Expected better with smaller V8 and 6 speed trans. see full Ford Explorer Sport Trac review
2008 4dr SUT 210-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed automatic 4WD w/low range
Terrible. I've owned fullsize pickups and SUV so I know what to expect. I've never seen the average mpg display read over 15mpg for the six months I've owned it. The main reason I bought this was the combination AWD and 4WD transfer case, but it doesn't have a 2 wheel drive position like my Sierra did. Boy do I miss that, I averaged 20 mpg per tank. see full Ford Explorer Sport Trac review
2007 4dr SUT 292-horsepower 4.6L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD w/low range
highway mileage is very good, better than my lighter V6 Ranger; 21mpg on the highway @ 75mph on flat road. City, with the remote start in winter, with the AWD kicking in, and lead foot acceleration nets me 13mpg. A light foot can get 15mpg city see full Ford Explorer Sport Trac review
2002 4dr SUT 203-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed automatic RWD
I think we all wish for 30 mpd-thats unrealistic when you have 10000+ lbs on the road when towing. see full Ford Explorer Sport Trac review
