Why the 2008 Honda Civic?

Reliability & durability

They have a well-deserved excellent reputation. I had one several years ago and it just kept going. Sold it with 134k with the original clutch. Replaced the water pump, a dash switch, and the horn in eleven years.

Why Not the 2008 Honda Civic?

A surprisingly loud noise was transmitted into the interior when driving over sharp bumps. Over normal bumps it was quiet for a small car.

Safety & braking

The brakes, for a given amount of force applied to the pedal, seem to produce less stopping power than brakes of other cars. It was disconcerting to stop quickly in traffic.

Dealer practices

Honda dealers have popularized the custom of adding a dealer sticker loaded with items of minor value well overpriced. They are not the only ones, of course.
