2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
I had an old large dog who loved car rides, and this car was lower to the ground to allow her easier access, and the backseat was very comfortable and spacious for her. Human guests also appreciated the more spacious rear seat room and comfort, though for the past year or 2 I have completely removed the rear seats in favor of even more cargo room (and the excuse not to transport people). see full Nissan Versa review
2008 Nissan Versa Seat Room and Comfort: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
The front seats lumbar support are uncomfortable. The back seats are a lot better, they feel really comfortable to sit or take a nap in. see full Nissan Versa review
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
The seats on this were really not nice. Cheap is the word. Poor shaping, no lumbar support. They have really improved this in the new 2012 sedan, at least. It only took them 5 years. see full Nissan Versa review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2008 Nissan Versa

2008 Nissan Versa Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
At highway speeds, the 1.8S Versa with the 6 speed runs at about 3000rpm and is relatively quiet. see full Nissan Versa review
2009 4dr Sedan 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Zippy with 6sp manual around town see full Nissan Versa review
2009 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Engine is peppy and powerful enought to keep up with traffic. Also good on hills. see full Nissan Versa review
2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4

2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4

2008 Nissan Versa Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 107-horsepower 1.6L I4
5-speed manual FWD
At highway speeds, the 1.6 base with the 5 speed manual buzzes quite a bit compared to the 1.8. In 5th gear at highway speeds, the engine revs at approx 3500 rpm. see full Nissan Versa review
2007 4dr Sedan 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
less peppy and responsive than Fit see full Nissan Versa review
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
CVT version of the car is very bizarre to drive and requires a lot of learning to get the best performance and/or mileage out of. 6-speed is geared far too closely, it might as well be a 4-speed. see full Nissan Versa review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Tires of the 2008 Nissan Versa

2008 Nissan Versa Tires: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Factory installed tires lost most tread by 11,000 miles. Told by dealer there was no Nissan warranty on tires and that factory installed tires are always poor quality and its assumed the owner will install their own preference. I could have tried to pursue warranty with tire manufacturer, but the cost to do so, with removal and shipping etc. would be more than new tires. I have since bought 2 new sets of tires, one set of all-season tires and one set of winter tires (not studded). see full Nissan Versa review
