Introduction

It has a style you either hate or love.

Reviewed: 2005 Scion xB

Why the 2005 Scion xB?

Fuel economy

Great fuel mileage on the highway and in the city. Over 30 mpg always.

Handling

Pretty crisp handling for a vehicle like this. I switched to 205/45/17 tires and it corners like a slot car!

Front seat support & comfort

The seats are very comfortable for a vehicle as inexpensive as this.

Front seat room

There is tons of room in this car! It almost seems bigger on the inside than the car is on the outside.

Interior storage compartments

There's quite a few compartments in the dashboard for your wallet, cellphone, or smokes, etc. The top of the dash has a fairly large flat area where you can put stuff as well.

Why Not the 2005 Scion xB?

Powertrain performance

Engine is a bit gutless but it's to be expected I suppose considering it is only a 1.5L without turbo. Also the motor really has to run at a fairly high rpm to go 75 mph freeway speeds. It's way more suited to city driving I think.

Quietness

The AC blower motor/fan is loud enough to drown out the engine noise when it's on the 2 highest settings.

Towing

There is no place to hook any kind of tow rope or cable anywhere. This increases the potential for damage when in need of towing.

Controls and instruments

The dash layout is one that you either hate or you love. It's definitely very unconventional.
