This was the first car I test drove that did not feel like it had a small 4 cylinder engine under the hood. Its acceleration is comparable to or better than the biggest V8s available. The deep growl of the boxer engine is pretty cool, too.
The AWD is unmatched by any any other car in its class. Its balance is nearly perfect, and it is impossible to lose control (I have tried to in AutoX). I have yet to find a sedan that comes anywhere close to its handling.
Subaru is known for building good quality cars for a good price. Their zero landfill plants make the WRX a more environmentally friendly decision than the Prius (even with only 25 MPG). And of course, their symmetrical AWD, which surprised even me.
