Reviewed: 2008 Subaru Impreza

4dr Sedan 170-horsepower 2.5L H4 5-speed manual AWD

Why the 2008 Subaru Impreza?

Past personal experience

My 1997 Impreza ran 250,000 on original clutch, exhaust and only routine maintenance.

Safety & braking

ABS, VDC and AWD. Might not be the most exciting car in the world to drive, but gets you there in one piece while other struggle with traction and control.

Controls and instruments

Nice touches like stereo controls on the steering wheel, line-in for mp3 players, seat height adjusters and tilt wheel.

Why Not the 2008 Subaru Impreza?

Warranty, maintenance cost

Too short! 3yr, 36,000 goes by awful fast!

Dealer practices

No exceptions to limits on warranty. Defective passenger visor not covered by warranty even though vehicle had only 38,000 miles. No coverage for defective airbag control unit at 55,000 miles even though extended warranty (70,000) was purchased.
