Reliability & durability

Owned since Oct 2007- now Aug 2011 - very few issues, if any major at all. Only 1 recall for fuel tank fixed 1 day with MFG warranty. Practically superb durability for econ car. Only regular oil/gen maintenance needed Mobil 1 synthetic highly recommended

Handling

Alert handling and corner abilities vs civic, focus, corolla in economy car segment - AWD allows base Impreza to do 40-50 MPH off on ramps no braking with 100% confidence even after years after purchase Driven through actual rally stages (not race spe

Brand reputation & image

Rally heritage is even evident in base model, no stick, no turbo, but still decent handling. Subaru has performed flawlessly through 4 winters with minus 40 degrees Celcius weather - very popular in Canada for obvious practical reasons.

Powertrain performance

4EAT Auto tranny is durable but somewhat abrupt. Practically bullet proof trans and power train - even going WOT for economy car. Permanent AWD is a gas guzzler but only requires regular gas.
