Why the 2013 Volvo S60?

Safety & braking

Volvo has been always been a safety leader. The S60 scored highest on the recent offset front end collisions.rnrnMy car has safety technology that will prevent me from rear ending someone or hitting a pedestrian if I am going 31 MPH or less. Fortunately I've never had to use that feature. I also get a warning and my brakes are prepared for a panic stop if I am traveling more than 31 MPH.rnrnAdaptive cruise control will bring me to a full stop and accelerate again when traffic clears. This does work as advertised.rnrnBlind spot monitoring can give false alerts, but generally works well. Lane departure warning and park alert can be annoying, but can be turned off as can the other systems. Of course no safety "nanny&#

Powertrain performance

I have a 250 HP turbo 5 cylinder 6 speed which performs flawlessly. There is slight turbolag from a dead stop. Acceleration from 35 up to 80 is fast and effortless. Driving bending roads is fun!

Front seat support & comfort

The driver's seat and driver's position are outstanding, the best I've ever experienced and I've driven Lexuses and Infinitis. Passenger's seat is also very comfortable.rnrnCaution: Back seat and trunk are small. Also, no spare. You get an inflation kit. You can pay $250 for a donut spare.

Ride smoothness

Very smooth ride on the highway. A little choppy on rough roads, but not brutal.

Warranty, maintenance cost

All repairs and maintenance, except tires, are covered by Volvo under the Safe and Secure Program, which unfortunately expired on 1/1/13.

Why Not the 2013 Volvo S60?

Conclusion

If you don't need alot of rear seat or trunk room and want something in the entry luxury level that is fun to drive but different than BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc. give this a look.
