The Acura MDX costs more up front, and gas mileage isn't great, but I feel in the long run if you need a mid-size SUV, they hold up better with fewer repairs required and I know their reputation for quality helps the resale value in the end.

This vehicle has excellent visibility all the way around and is very comfortable regardless of how long your on the road. The seat design is excellent.
This SUV handles like a car. Quick reaction time and very strong excelleration when needed. The all wheel drive ensures the the vehicle stays put in wet conditions.
We've owned several Acura's over the past 13 years, this is the first SUV. The past has proven their reliability as long as you maintain them. I mean the basic prescribed routine care every 5,000 miles. I've driven many different American made vehicles supplied by my Company over the span of the last 35 years and none can compare with how Acura's hold up or perform, even with the same routine care and still offer the resale value that they do.
I've bought from 3 different Acura dealers over the years and found that the overall service is what I consider "above average". The particular dealership I use most often would be described as having "superior service". No way to describe it other than they are good at what they do. This will bring me back to the dealership even if price of the vehicle can't be matched.
It takes a while to get use to where the basic controls are located. We have a "tech model" and there's a great deal of features that you learn about over time. It's dangerous sometimes since amost of the controls are lower on the console so your eyes are off the road. Too many buttons, too close together.
Gas mileage is not good. The best I get is around 20 mpg, and use 91 octane as reccommended. I've tried mid-grade 89 octane with no noticable difference but for $1.00-$2.00 per tankful, I'm choosing to stick with what is reccommended. It would be nice to have a front wheel drive only version which would save on gas, but it's not offered.
For us, we couldn't agree on another luxury mid-size SUV that has all the features that the MDM comes with. It's safe, comfortable and has enough hauling capacity when we need it. It's not bad looking and loaded with features that Acura likes to "bundle" into all their vehicles. And they do deal!
