2008 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by ModemJunki
Member3157
Ride smoothness
The ride on rough surfaces is well controlled and very smooth for the class of vehicle the Malibu fits in.
Fuel economy
With the 4 cylinder 4 speed, fuel economy is very competitive.
Safety & braking
The brakes are predictable and consistent in stop and go traffic.
Rear seat room & comfort
The rear legroom and seat comfort are suitable for two adults on extended trips.
Exterior styling
The styling is consistent with current trends, with high door sills and a high rear deck limiting visibility.
Handling
The price paid for the smooth ride is lack of steering feedback, and the stock tires on the base LS model may also contribute to tramlining and wander. While competent in urgent maneuvers, the suspension setup does not suit driving in a spirited manner.
Brand reputation & image
The overall reputation of the parent brand is poor, affecting resale value.
Insurance cost
Insurance is average for the class, depreciation due to the parent brand is staggering.
Dealer practices
Like many dealerships, the practice of hard upselling maintenance services not called for seems predatory and dishonest. This is not unique to any brand, however. Buyer beware!
