An asterisk (*) marks results based on small sample sizes.
General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

| 2003 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 231-horsepower 4.6L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
I had very good luck with a previous Ford truck and most reliability ratings put it fairly high. They had been building that model for years - I figured the kinks must have been worked out by now. |
| 2002 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 260-horsepower 5.4L V8 4-speed automatic RWD |
This truck has only been back to the dealer on time for a minor problem with the steering wheel. It has so far been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. |
| 2001 | 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 202-horsepower 4.2L V6 4-speed automatic RWD |
Will focus on this strictly on rust resistance. After 11 years and 107,000 miles I discovered the lower radiator support bracket had completely rusted through, causing the radiator to sag a bit & threatened to destroy it, the auto transmission, the A/C lines and the fan belt, if the radiator should shift any more. Ford has already had a major recall for rusting of gas tank support straps. In my opinion this degree of severe rust damage should not have happened this soon, and is a combination of design defect and poor materials. See my YouTube video about this problem.http://youtu.be/EjAXPkduQrc |
