Reliability and Durability of the Ford F-150: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2011 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed turbocharged 365hp 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
While only having only 4000 miles on my FX4, I also have a Ecoboost F150 Platinum with 10,000 miles on it and no problems to report so far. Neither has failed us at any time and the engines have zero oil consumption. Seen long trips with no problems too!
2010 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 310-horsepower 5.4L V8
6-speed automatic RWD
So far I have about 48,000 miles on it and have not needed any repairs.
2010 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 310-horsepower 5.4L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
I like having a truck I can count on. I want my dollars per mile driven to to be low I want to be able to haul and pull when needed So far my Ford trucks have not let me down This the definition of reliability 300,000 miles is the definition of durability
2010 4dr Crew Cab 6.5ft bed 310-horsepower 5.4L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
Tested and true power plant
2009 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 310-horsepower 5.4L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
Driven 17,000 miles, across country twice. Changed the oil... added gas. One flat tire.
2009 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 292-horsepower 4.6L V8
6-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
These trucks have a very good reputation, and have served my family well in the past
2009 2dr Regular Cab 8ft bed 248-horsepower 4.6L V8
4-speed automatic RWD
owned 7 of them so far all with over 200k miles and one with over 500k miles
2008 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 300-horsepower 5.4L V8
4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
What few issues I have had with the vehicle have been immediately remedied and issues known for this vehicle from other owners has never been anything serious that would hinder using the vehicle.
2007 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 300-horsepower 5.4L V8
4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
Solidly built pick-up, best work truck in the market
2006 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed 231-horsepower 4.6L V8
4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
Bought this 4 years ago at 44K miles and am the 3rd owner. I had to replace the 4WD solenoid ($25) and both 4WD IWEs ($150 for 2) shortly after purchase. These are common issues on the 4WD system from my research. Absolutely no problems since, at 93K. This continues to be an extremely dependable and capable truck.

2013 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed turbocharged 365hp 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic 4WD w/low range
I've been hearing an inconsistent low-speed hum (sounds like you're driving through snow). It goes away after 15-20 mph. Seems to happen most often in -20 to +10 temps.
2013 4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed turbocharged 365hp 3.5L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic 4WD w/low range
The bi-xenon headlights developed a problem at around 30,000 miles. The high beams either wouldn't work or would stay in the high position. It seems to have worked itself out - but I don't have a lot of confidence in them. It's also worth mentioning that while the xenons are great, the difference between the high and low beams isn't very significant.
