Why the 2008 Ford Ranger?

Discounts & incentives

One of the better quality American trucks. I have owned 2 Rangers and they have been very reliable. At this time big dealer incentives to move these trucks will let you save big money.

Reliability & durability

As said abouve I have owned 2 in the past. And as long as you stay away from the Automatic Tranny, reliability is top notch.

Powertrain performance

The 4.0L can be very hard on gas but if you want to get moving in a hurry this motor is a blast to leave stripes from every stop light. Lots of power for a small truck. 4x4 is great in bad weather.

Past personal experience

I am now on my 2nd Ranger - it is 12 years old and I will be purchasing another soon. What can I say in 12 years of daily use I have not replaced any parts besides brakes and 2 muflers. There is no rust on the truck. This is why I will buy a Ranger again.

Controls and instruments

The Ranger is fairly simple in design making simple repairs like brake work easy for the do it your self types - Seems to be less to go wrong.

Why Not the 2008 Ford Ranger?

Fuel economy

Ford needs to wake up to the cost of gas - All you can get now in a 4x4 is the 4.0L engine - That motor eats gas. Ford I want the option of a 3.0 L and even a 2.3L 4x4

Powertrain performance

Cant get smaller than 4.0L motor if you go for a 4x4. Not good as the price of gas will not stay low for long.

Driving position & visibility

The new Ranger has you sitting to low in the seat and the front of the seat pushes up on your legs. Also the seat it self is as hard as a brick - What gives Ford?

Feature availability

Only Motor is a 4.0L if you want 4x4 - NOT GOOD.....

Dealer practices

Typical with American dealerships - getting it fixed right the first time is not easy. Still to many issues with dealers repairing problems that the should have been repaired at the assy plant.
