Fuel economy
Fuel economy is excellent--I drive 200 miles a day at 75-80 mph and regularly average 39-40 mpg.
Reliability & durability
No major problems after putting 70K miles on a car that had 72K when I bought it. Hondas are built like tanks, and I can always count on it to run.

Controls and instruments
All the controls are logically placed and easy to reach.
Ride smoothness
Fairly rough riding for a mainstream car; every road imperfection is felt and potholes are a nightmare. Can get tiring on a long trip.
Quietness
Quite a bit of road noise in the cabin from the tires; have to talk in a raised voice at cruising speed. Engine is also noisy during acceleration.
Insurance cost
Depreciation is not a problem, but insurance is very expensive considering the age of the car, I guess because Civics are a favorite target of car thieves.
Powertrain performance
Could use more power; passing on a 2-lane rural highway can be white-knuckle sometimes. Also have to rev it high to get any acceleration. Manual transmission works great, though, and engine is willing to play along as much as it can.
