2008 Honda Civic Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by sixto7

Brand reputation & image
Honda has a solid reputation for reliability and practicality, even if at the expense of being a bit dull.
Price or payments
While not the bargain they once were, Honda still offers good value for the money. Maintenance costs are relatively low as well.
Safety & braking
Honda has made strides to achieve 5 star ratings in all crash tests, definitely a factor when choosing this family car. Brakes feel adequate but nothing spectacular.
Handling
Surprisingly crisp, the steering feel is quick and responsive. Turn in response has a go-cart like character to it. I did not expect it, but it is somewhat fun to toss around.
Ride smoothness
Ride is a bit firm, some may find it to be too firm. Still provides good ride comfort, and the trade off for better/sportier handling is worth it.
Powertrain performance
The Civic has gotten heavier and yet the engines are not putting out much more power, only a 13hp bump in 10 years. The base Civic feels anemic and the engine feels dated. Auto trans. feels slow to respond and seems to gear hunt when driven hard.
Exterior styling
Not necessarily a dislike, but the styling is nothing special. Maybe a bit dull, but certainly not offensive. Just straightforward Honda utility.
