Dealers mechanic discovered the right rear outer brake pad was not releasing from the rotor. (Basically stuck on) This caused the outer rear brake pad to wear down to less than 1/8th inch remaining. Inner pad was fine as was the other wheel. Replaced brake switch assembly HY938100W00. Took less than 1 hour. Replaced rear brake pads with aftermarket Raybestos PGD-1297-C ceramic pads. I suspect Hyundai Santa Fe gen 2 models have a problem with drivers side rear brake calipers sticking in the on position. IE. Not releasing when brake is off.
