Hyundai has been constantly improving and the quality we found in the Santa Fe, after having driven all of the competition vehicles, by far surpassed the others.

From past experience with the Hyundai products, I felt that if this vehicle came close to the previous one, I would be very happy. All professional auto critics praise the Santa Fe.

We purchased this vehicle new and paid over 26k for it - until this week, we have been generally OK with the purchase (not excited, just OK). Well, it didn't start early this week, stranding my wife at night, in a vacant parking lot. No fun - we eventually got her, and left the Santa Fe. We called to have it towed to the local Hyundai dealership (North Park in Covington) - after all it only has 62k highway miles it and has been greatly taken care of, and it does have the 100k warranty, right? They led me to believe the warranty would cover repairs, but then they said the Starter was bad (we had owned many vehicles in 50 or so years - never a starter failure). Anyway, 100k coverage should take care of their (they said 580 bucks for a Starter - can you believe it) repair on this vehicle. We had it towed to the dealer specifically because of the warranty coverage. Well, the starter is now NOT part of a powertrain (have you ever seen a powertrain operate without a STARTER)? DISGUSTING to say the least - Our family has purchased multiple new Hyundai's from THIS exact dealer, and they cannot cover the STARTER? This sucks. Then later that day I found a TSB from Hyundai on a "cheap" fix for these Starter issues (less than 10 bucks for the part), but OF COURSE this doesn't apply to our repair - we need a NEW one. THEN, they don't have any starters in stock - WOW - NONE, and wanted me to pay extra to ship it faster, or I'd have to wait all week. THEN, I called Hyundai National Customer Service, and they did NOTHING for me. HYUNDAI, you SUCK.

So far not impress, no major problems, but several issues that seem to take a long time to be fix, but dealerships.

Seats 8 people. I test drove a leather with DVD used vehicle prior to purchasing and it was decent. I purchased this in March 2011 with 5500 miles from Bob Moore in OKC. Seats were a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. at 30000 miles the rear strut had issues on the liftgate, noisy (really noisy at low speeds) power steering, tires wearing out, and gas tank showed half full when I ran out of gas. Today I found out there is a leak in the discharge hose of the Ac and possibly more issues because I have no ac at 90,800 miles. Seats are garbage, gas mileage never averaged over 21, wont tow much of a load, and small inside. I would never recommend a GMC, anything from Bob Moore or the Acadia. I have owned over 50 vehicles and this is the most problems for a new vehicle I have ever had.

6) I take the Acadia in for oil change and new tires at 71k miles. Get a call saying the strut is leaking like a faucet and needs to be replaced. Car is 4.5 years old! I only pay for the one strut even though recommended by dealer to replace both just because. I called GM and they wouldn't help any. Out of warranty. Out of help. 7) While in for having the strut replace, I get a call from the dealer stating that the tie rod bolt is so rusted that it looks like it will break apart and fall off. They say it has to be replaced for pure safety reasons and I totally agree. $56 bolt. I paid.

I purchased my Acadia SLT2 in April 2011. I have had to take it in for work on the following items since then, and basically it's a regular issue where I know I'll be back at the dealer for something soon. 1) Headlights failed. I paid to replace. Headlights failed, I took back in and they had a recal on it then and I got reimbursed for previous money and issue fixed. 2) Car was repeatedly smelling like a sweaty locker room. I clean it regularly and found the floor mats were soaking wed UNDERNEATH. That totally confused me. Aired car out for a day or two and it dried out. Happened again. Thought it was my sweaty bike gear in car, so moved that out. Again, smelly locker room smell. Thought to check under floor mats and it was soaking wet again. Aired car our and it dried out. Happened a 3rd time and I knew what it was then. Took car to dealer and they said I wasn't cleaning the sunroof out and it was my fault, but cleaned it at no cost and that stopped the problem. Research on internet shows this was actual recal type major problem for Acadia. 3) Steering was "whinning" a lot. Took in to dealer for oil change and asked them to take a listen because it seemed way more than what I'd expect for nice car. They called and said power steering assist or something was faulty and replaced it. Covered under 36k bumper to bumper warranty. 4) Acadia went haywire trying to drive up mountain in snowstorm when I had to floor the gas to maintain forward motion in 15% grade in middle of snow storm when cars were sliding off the road around me. RPM's went all over (hight, then low, then high, then low, etc) lights in the car flashed, dash lights going on and off, check engine light comes on, etc. Take to dealer after that weekend and they said over 100 codes were in the computer and all they could do was just clear them all and wait till something comes up again because the had no idea what it all meant. Sure enought, that day after I leave the dealer the check engine light comes on. Back to dealer. Car is checked and they replace timing chain and engine sensors. All covered under 36k bumber to bumper warranty. 5) Snow storm causes me to have to floor the gas to keep from sliding back big hill in our neighborhood. Acadia goes completely haywire. First fast RPM, then slow RPM, then fast RPM, then middle of the road RPM, then slow RPM. Just all over. While this is happening my car with my 2 kids and my wife and I are sliding slowly off the edge of road because the wheels won't just spin to pull us up the hill. Take to dealer again. This time they have the car for about a week and every day I hear about something new being done to fix whatever issue, then they call and say it needs a total new transmission. Covered under the 100k powertrain warranty. They were back and forth with GM for days trying different things. $8000 repair.

Mileage, choices of tires that fit this vehicle, reliability, lack of interior space, lack of towing ability, comfortability, the list is quite long. For $32,000 MSRP, there are many vehicles that beat this car in every category.

Water leaks, so many the Dealer has a hard time repairing. Power steering pump wines so loud you can hear it in the interior. Dash rattles. Cruse control is useless due to the trans calibration, continuously down shifts the trans on hills and in a wind.
