The best - and only - compact family hauler. 2014 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member4498 The engine is adequate, but about 20 more horses would be welcome. Puttering around town, I feel no lack of power. But weigh it down for a road trip and try to pass going uphill - you're going to run out of power. It's a price I'm willing to pay for... |
Family of four plus cargo 2009 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Don\\\'tBeThatDriver This van is quick off the line and accelerates smoothly after that, but passing on the highway takes a lot of gas and normally requires a second or two to kick into a lower gear. |

2010 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member4868 Sporty, based on the Mazda3 powertrain |

2006 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member4406 The 158hp 4-cylinder is adequate, the 4-speed transmission helps make it less so. Also, the response seems rather abrupt for its class. And this response could be to blame for an engine mount failing prematurely. |

2010 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons ljmattox Mazda offers a 5sp manual in this vehicle; underpinned by Mazda 3 mechanicals, it's a blast to drive! For a 2.3l 4-cyl, it's amazingly tractable, and has no difficulty merging/passing...or maintaining 80+ on western highways, if called for! |

2009 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member3280 Onnly drove with auto box, very feeble. Manual tranny is likely better but not available when tested |

2007 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons A member in Ohio, United States Engine does not like cold weather - hard to start when below 15 F. I thought fuel injection and computer control eliminated such balkiness in general. I guess not with Mazdas. |

2007 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member2000 Much too slow, with a full load of 6 Passengers getting onto a freeway is difficult. |
