Handling

Handling was sharp and responsive.

Powertrain performance

AWD was a plus even on dry pavement and the vehicle was highly manouverable, even though the base engine felt underpowered.

Exterior styling

Not the most attractive car, even for a Subaru.

Fuel economy

Pathetic for a compact sedan at <28 mpg highway. The AWD system must be a huge fuel sink.

Materials & workmanship

This where the Impreza really failed to shine. Among the array of cheap, flimsy plastic parts, one stuck out: the fake chrome trim on the trunk that popped off while closing. Fortunately for us, it popped right back on...
