Reviewed: 2006 Subaru WRX

4dr Sedan turbocharged 230hp 2.5L H4 5-speed manual AWD

Why the 2006 Subaru WRX?

Reliability & durability

Car always is very reliable,I have owned two and they both never had a problem. Very durable too can handle all kinds of terrian. Car can be modded and is still reliable

Handling

AWD handling is amazing, car can take corners quickly and very stably. The handling saved my life in my first crash in my first WRX TR.

Safety & braking

The brakes on the TR are an upgraded 4pot and 2 pot system, which is a major upgrade to older wrxs. I have driven a few older wrxs and can say braking is better. My 1st TR saved my life, car was totaled but i was completely unharmed

Powertrain performance

-Subaru Boxer engine(lower center of gravity) -All time symmetrical AWD. -2.5L displacement is an improvement on old WRX more low end torque -Turbocharger -Efficient top mount intercooler

Brand reputation & image

Ive always liked Subaru and they have a very positive public image. Subaru has also been known for their world rallying pedigree. The Subaru car community is very strong, when you see another Subaru you usually will get a wave, especially if theres a scoop

Why Not the 2006 Subaru WRX?

Interior styling

On the WRX TR, they took off the sideskirts, rear trunk wing, fog lights, and unpainted mirrors. other than that car is beautiful and everything can be bought from Subaru

Insurance cost

Insurance is high on WRXs and STIs because the drivers are generally young males. Subarus all hold their value much better than a lot of cars, there is not a problem with depreciation, unless heavily modded.

Audio & nav systems

The WRX TR is a stripped down WRX, CD player is nothing special, speakers are not good, no factory subwoffer and no NAV.
