I have over a mile of washboard, gravel road going to my house. The Outback dampens the shock of hitting these better than my 4WD P/U with larger tires and more suspension. Smooth and quiet and good, paved roads as well.
Plenty of power, if you get it up to 4k rpm. No understeer or oversteer thanks to AWD and very winter capable. The road to my house has 8% to 10% grades and the Outback handled the grades with no problem even when the snow was packed and icy.
31 mpg on twisty 2 lane roads going through Oregon coast and Cascades. Not bad for an AWD loaded with gear and people.
