I say bs: compare it with its true, truck-based SUV competitors - and there are only 3 of them: toyota 4runner and fj cruiser, and jeep wrangler rubicon. Thats all! All others are not to be compared to xterra - they are just car-based SUVs (even new nissan pathfinder is just a car!).rnWhen you compare xterra with correct competitors, you will find that its fuel economy is excellent: my trip computer and calculations show the best economy of 10.3 l/100km on highway at 95 km/h without aircon, on cruise control, on a warm day. My wife drives this car to work each day, round trip is approx 30 miles. She is averaging 17 mpg, but on trips I drive and can average 22-23 mpg. I usually cruise the interstate at 70-80 mph. and I do use the cruise control. The mpg will vary but I have seen a high of 25 and a low of 21. Overall very pleased with the ride and comfort, when traveling there are usually 3 adults and luggage. see full GMC Acadia review
