4WD would not fully engage and slip with metallic gear engagement noises. Sounded like hub splines were being stripped. After troubleshooting I determined the 4WD vacuum solenoid on fire wall was defective. Replaced solenoid, now 4WD works.

Upon changing front rotors, a clicking sound persists in front wheels when in 2wd. Somehow half shafts are not fully withdrawn when in 2wd. Switched to AWD and clicking ceases. Front axle shafts are fully engaged now.
