Apr 2012128000 miUS $8000 | Went through 3 sets of rear shocks and 2 sets of front in 128K miles. Overall has been a good vehicle. Stealership repair rates were $5,000 between two trips - had a hose breank and dumped coolant on top of engine, $2500 ish in damage, not covered under extended warranty (!) - then ABS module and suspension all around, etc etc. Ultimately I can't remember it ever leaving my family stranded in about 100,000 miles of ownership. A little afraid of the high dollar repair possibilities going forward, planning to trade up (?) to a refurbished 2002 7.3 Excursion. |

Dec 201324906 mi | Rear door glass was leaking on inside from the top. Mainly during heavy rain. Dealer found and performed TSB 12-8-5, was unable to reuse weather strip, replaced it and installed weather rain guard as per TSB. No cost - warranty During MPI, dealer noticed heater hose clamp failed (not noticed by me), replaced hosed, topped off coolant. No cost - warranty. Advised dealer I believed the 4x4 system was binding when first starting in 4x4-auto. Dealer could not replicate the issue. I have noticed the issue when backing out of driveway and when turning in wet conditions when first starting. | ||
Nov 201432367 mi | Coming to stop, transmission would seem to be confused and change gears - possibly downshifting to far to fast. Dealer corrected by 110812A (P66) (42) under TSB 11-8-12. Reprogramed PCM & TCM, clear KAM and perform relearn procedure Power windows slow to operate, especially in cold weather. Inspected windows, didn't find a problem, lubed all tracks at no charge. Noticed water at drivers side just to left of brake peddle. No frequency or amount of rain experienced to go by. Happens sometimes, not all. Dealer tried to replicate, kept vehicle extended time, couldn't experience or find issue. Noise reported when going over speed bumps. Sounded loose. Found both front struts failed seals leaking oil and air got in system causing noise. Replaced both front struts. Complain of difficulty seeing information center when sun glaring on dash (sunny days). Dealer inspected and found no problem with lights and dimmer was in spec. headrest dvd player in drivers seat failed to show video at times. Noticed especially when going over bumps. Dealer had 3rd party check all connections and try to replicate. Could not replicate. I went on trip to NJ, DVD player worked. |
