Car didn't recognize key. Towed it to dealer who told me that it needs a new transponder, the entire steering column needs to be replaced! Costs at least $2000. Clearing of faultcodes made all work OK since, hope it doesn't come back!
129580 mi Also the steering column actuator is faulty, symptoms are that you can't turn on the ignition or start the car. Happens from time to time, you don't know when. My solution is to leave the key in the ignition and lock the car with the spare key, or reset the fault code with VCDS. Needs to replace the whole steering column (including the anti-theft box), costs around 2500 USD in an Audi workshop (and around 1500 in an non-Audi workshop).

Replace fuel pump
118000 mi

US $145
I don't know what subsystem was involved because the issue is an intermittent stalling problem which the shop could not reproduce and therefore could not diagnose or repair. The $145 I paid was for utterly unsuccessful diagnostics.
131634 mi

US $312
Check Engine light went on. My OBD II code scanner showed code P2404, which indicates that the sensor in the EVAP leak detection pump system is returning a value that is out of the acceptable range. Technician at the shop investigated and determined that the EVAP system's purge valve had failed. The valve was replaced with a new one, but I was warned that once this problem was cured, one or more other EVAP system faults might become apparent. No additional issues have surfaced yet.
131842 mi

US $609
Check Engine light came on. I checked with OBD-II scanner and found code P0455-- EVAP emissions control system leak detected (no purge flow or large leak). The shop determined that the EVAP system's leak detection pump had failed, so they replaced it.
132064 mi Check Engine light wen on again. My OBD scanner showed me that codes for the Evap Control Purge Valve and the Evap Control Leak Detection Pump, previously present separately on recent occasions, were now BOTH present, even though both components had been replaced. The technician could detect no other issues and cleared the codes. He told me that he HOPED these codes had popped up as a result of incomplete clearing of codes after the most recent repair. There was no charge, since the recent Evap Control System repairs were under the shop's repair warranty. In the sixty or so miles I have driven since I got the car back, no warnings have appeared.

68820 mi

C $1700
Access/Start Control unit was fried. The car would not start. Part had to be ordered from Germany. Audi of Canada refuses to acknowledge that the TSB should have been covered under warranty as it was a known issue for at least 2 years.
36895 mi Engine light is on, traced to a faulty key tumbler.Replaced, also found sporadic misfires in cylinder 1 and 5. Switch may have been the cause for misfire. Start switch inop at times. Replaced

40576 mi Engine light ON. TSB 2011719/6 replaced all lifters and rocker arms. The symptoms were excessive cold start misfires fault codes. Engine light goes on and off. Fault codes for ramdom multiple misfires. Factory service bulletin ordered all rocker arms, lifters and corresponding gaskets replaced. 3 spark plugs replaced. Hope the misfire problem has gone away!

53000 mi

US $400
Oil leak, check engine light. Had to return it again because they did not completely fix oil leak.
105500 mi

US $2100
Engine light on. Dealer said they fixed it, but several days later the light came back on. Hope it's not the transmission. Probably the gas tank, which costs around $2,100. (This possibility was suggested back in 2014.) Update: light later went off again and stayed off for a while.
116000 mi Engine light is back on, the car is shaking. Went to the dealer/repair and they told me it would cost 15,000 for a new engine or get a new car. Furious, I took the car to a repair shop near my home that specializes in foreign cars. They will be looking at the problem next week. The car has been shaking and engine light comes on. The second shop also says a new engine is necessary, but would not make financial sense. So time for a new car. Will be parting the Audi out or donating it.
