retractable running boards fail to remain retracted. problem recurred almost immediately.
54000 mi

US $150
running board would not retract when put into drive. again needed cleaning and lubrication. Evidently this is a common problem with automatic running boards. Winter weather and off roading cause excessive grime and dirt to get into the pivot points. This extra drag acts like it hits something and activates the automatic safety retraction. Eventually they may fail over time and that repair is expensive.
