Reviewed: 2008 Chevrolet Impala

4dr Sedan 211-horsepower 3.5L V6 4-speed automatic FWD

Why the 2008 Chevrolet Impala?

Rear seat room & comfort

Perhaps the largest rear seat in a sedan. Can squeeze three normal adults.

Fuel economy

If driven carefully, 22-30 MPG around town and 33-36 MPG highway. If you are a sloppy driver, make that 18-20 and 25 MPG.

Discounts & incentives

Program for dealer to use the car as a loaner for those using shop. At 3,000 miles, the car is sold as used, along with all discounts and rebates. This makes it less expensive than a two year old used Imapala. GM provides a kickback to the dealer then.

Driving position & visibility

Easy to get in and out, good lumbar support, easy to see out of car.

Front seat support & comfort

Large seat for my large seat, very good lumbar support, good power adjustments.

Why Not the 2008 Chevrolet Impala?

Brand reputation & image

2006 and earlier models had bad reliability and many issues that were never addressed by GM; the same problems every year with every model year.

Past personal experience

Previous car- kept replacing the automatic transmission every 14 months.
