2016 Chevrolet Malibu Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh When fitted with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, the 2016 Malibu scores a little better in the EPA's fuel economy tests than the 2013-2015's with the same engine but two fewer transmission ratios did, 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway vs. 21 and 30. This improvement places it about even with... Comparison vehicle: 2016 Kia Optima |

2014 Chevrolet Malibu Love Letter Member3363 We are seeing beteer fuel economy over our 2009 Malibu w/2.5L 4-cyl engine. Just turned 5,000 miles & have gotten just under 34 MPG on hwy & 28 MPG around town. I expect this to improve, especially the hwy MPG. |
Starts and runs but has niggling problems 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5881 If you maintain 65mph on the highway this car will do an honest 30mpg. Amazing. |
2011 Malibu LT1 2011 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5154 Good overall. Highway mpg can be 30-32 mpg. In city driving (stop and go) with short trips more like 18-19 mpg. |

Happy with my 2010 Malibu 2010 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5398 My fuel economy has been better than the EPA ratings. Having said that I don't drive the car hard. |

2012 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons AudiDan Wanted something fairly roomy, but cheap to run. It has filled the bill in that respect. |

2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ Turbo Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh The EPA rates the Malibu turbo 21 mpg city, 30 highway, below the Fusion 2.0T's 22/33 and the Sonata 2.0T's 22/34. The V6s in the Accord and Altima also do better?so much for the inherent fuel economy advantage of a turbocharged four over a V6. The trip computer confirmed the... Dependable, Inexpensive Transportation 2007 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons winstonthorne Gets about 26-27mpg in real-world driving - city commute of ~10mi one way. Great fuel economy for a bigger car. |
2013 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member1783 So far the dash display average is fluctuating between 37 and 40 mpg with mixed interstate (65%)/suburban (35%), "light accelerator foot," speed limit driving; at least 40% better than my prior V6 Toyota Solara. |
2004 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5380 Amazing fuel economy for a mid-sized peppy V6 engine. Good compromise of more than adequate power and well-above average fuel economy. Reviewers have noted the tranny is tweaked to favour fuel economy over towing ability -- perfect for most drivers. |
2004 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5374 Less than manufacturers claim |
| |
2011 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member3385 V6 is 5 mpg less than 4 cyl. The 4 cylinder has sufficient power but the V6 is more responsive. |
2011 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member5057 too low for a 4 cylinder |
2005 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member4058 Great gas mileage for a mid-size. You can apply the money you save on gas to pay for the transmission rebuild. |
2010 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member1600 2.4 liter 4 gets 30+ on the highway. |
2009 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons A member in Texas, United States My V6 Malibu gets 28 mpg average which is rather good and only 2-3 mpg less than the 4 cyl. |
2009 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons A member in Indiana, United States 30-32 mpg on I70 from Indy to KC at 70 mph, 24 around town. |
2009 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member3766 Outstanding highway fuel economy. City fuel economy could be better but my driving is limited to fairly short distances with mostly stop and go. |
2009 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member3731 I drive 50 miles each way to work and the highway mileage is excellent |
2009 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons A member in Texas, United States Very good, 21 in fixed driving, up to 33 on the highway. |
2008 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member2809 In town is only OK...maybe 22-24 MPG. On the highway on level stretches, 42-43 MPG is very common. 16 gallon fuel tank give you plenty of travel range on the highway. |
2008 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member3652 When minded about keeping it mellow on the road acceleration and speed wise, it does deliver a good gas mileage on long hauls. |
2008 Chevrolet Malibu Pros and Cons Member3157 With the 4 cylinder 4 speed, fuel economy is very competitive. |
