6-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 I'd love to have better mileage; but, I also want cargo capacity and comfort. That's the tradeoff. The newer Traverse has a 9-speed transmission that no doubt helps it get a few more miles per gallon but it also has auto stop/start (which I'm not fond of). Mileage on the trip to and from New Jersey was right at 24 MPG--when I remember my last Chevy (IROC-Z28 with L-98 engine) I realize that was the same mileage I got from a car that had little utility. see full Chevrolet Traverse review

6-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 Fuel economy literally sucks!! I guess it's the price you pay for driving a big vehicle with all-wheel drive. I also own a new GMC 4x4 quad cab truck with a 6 liter engine. My truck gets better fuel economy than my 3.6 liter Traverse. Maybe I just got stuck with a lemon. I'm told that fuel economy is supposed to get better once the engine gets more km's on it. 9-speed shiftable automatic AWD		 For being a vehicle that weighs over 4,000 pounds it is hard to complain about the as mileage. I do mostly highway driving or driving on back roads with 45-55 MPH speed limits. When I drive aggressively I get approximately 25-26 MPG. Under my normal driving conditons I have calculated just shy of 30 MPG. This is without the vehicle being entirely broken in yet, so the mileage may even still increase over the next few months. Sport mode will decrease the mileage, as it changes the shift points and holds lower gears longer. More fun at the expense of more gas used. No real suprise there. If you do a lot of city driving and are worried about gas then I do not recommend the Cherokee. With first and second gear being so tall, this thing uses a lot of gas in stop and go driving. Any decent amount of highway driving balances this out though. see full Jeep Cherokee review
