Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan Reliability And Durability: Pros | ||

2010 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
We are very pleased with the reliability. In over 100,000 miles we have spent $35 in repairs that are not normal "wear and tear" items like belts and bulbs. The interior had held up well to the hard use that kids, their friends and pets will put on a vehicle. We've even hauled feed for livestock and hay in it and you can't tell. The draw back is the vehicle has remote open doors and tailgate. Sometimes, completely at random, one of the doors or the tailgate will open. Other times we have come back to the vehicle to find a window half way down. This doesn't happen often, but enough in the 5 years we've owned it to double check while walking away. The safety on the doors and tailgate to keep them from closing on you has never worked well. You have to provide a good amount of resistance before the motor stops closing the door and starts to open it again. full 2010 Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan review |

2009 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 251-horsepower 4.0L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Very unreliable as one can tell. Again I paid for a vehicle that is unsafe to drive and in the shop more than on the road. Also, so many other issues that just keep happening one after another. I take care of my vehicles...yet this one is a sad case! full 2009 Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan review |
2009 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 197-horsepower 3.8L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
SE vs. SXT. SXT Power doors and convenience electronics add more complexity and less reliability. Tranny gasket almost always leaked in the past. Previous to 2008 the pulleys had no shoulders so the belt fell off frequently - TG they changed that full 2009 Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan review |
2008 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 175-horsepower 3.3L V6 4-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Any van that could vent carbon monoxide into the cabin has serious issues. Also, Dodge has a history of poor reliability. full 2008 Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan review |

2005 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 207-horsepower 3.8L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
Engine uses almost 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. Dodge says this is "normal". Had to switch to synthetic oil to minimize problems. Makes me question long term durability of the engine. Had front end problems early on (tie rod ends, struts and strut mount full 2005 Dodge Caravan / Grand Caravan review |
