2016 Scion iA Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh The Scion iA's light weight also pays fuel economy dividends. EPA ratings of 31/41 with the manual transmission and 33/42 with the automatic (both with six ratios) are best-in-class, with one partial exception. With a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine the Ford Fiesta manages 31/43, but this engine is a $1,000... Comparison vehicle: 2014 Ford Fiesta |

2014 Ford Fiesta SE EcoBoost Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh The ostensible point of a three-cylinder engine is superior fuel economy. Fewer cylinders generate less friction. On top of this, the Fiesta's new engine is smaller, just one liter compared to the regular Fiesta's 1.6 and the Fit's 1.5. It is turbocharged to compensate for this size difference. The payoff:... 2013 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh In these small performance hatches, you can have both quick acceleration and excellent fuel economy (if not at the same time). Both the JCW Clubman and Fiesta ST score 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway in the EPA's tests. (The Veloster lags a bit: 24/35.) While the Ford's trip computer... Comparison vehicle: 2014 Ford Fiesta |

2014 Nissan Versa Note Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh Like that in the Versa sedan, the Versa Note's trip computer regularly reported averages in the low 40s in both suburban and highway driving. Drive the car with little regard for fuel economy and the average will drop, but only into the mid-30s. With a feather-light right foot and good... Comparison vehicle: 2014 Ford Fiesta |

2014 Ford Fiesta ST Review Official TrueDelta review by Michael Karesh If I had six or seven "why to buys" to work with, fuel economy would be among them. The Fiesta ST is rated 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway. The heavier, more powerful Focus ST comes in three lower on each. The Veloster Turbo? 24/35 following Hyundai's semi-voluntary downward revision.... Comparison vehicle: 2013 Nissan JUKE |
Overall, the best subcompact available right now. Honda Fit is best competition. 2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member4917 One of the best combinations of fuel economy and purchase cost you will find in the US. Among the most fuel-efficient inexpensive subcompacts on the market today (though it can be beaten in fuel economy by a number of hybrids that cost significantly more). I've gotten 29-30 mpg in pure... |

Best choice at the time. 2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member5263 Mixed bag. Pure highway exceeds 40mpg w/o effort. Lots of very short trips in town (less than 5 minutes total time) 28 MPG. Part may be the gas blend. The lower the average MPH the lower the MPG. |

2012 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member5413 Great fuel economy. Consumer Reports indicated that it was one of the few cars they have tested that actually got better than EPA during their (sometimes high performance) testing. I am getting better than 38 mpg in a mix of city/highway. |

2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member4880 The automatic has no loss of torque in between gear ratios. Wins in fuel economy by a slight margin. |
|
2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member4873 35MPG without even trying. On long trips, I got 44MPG and the 6 speed auto gets better milage than the manual. |

2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member4389 Cruising at 75 MPH for a road trip I got 40+ mpg. Around town I have got around 30 in mildly spirited driving. |
|
2011 Ford Fiesta Pros and Cons Member4646 So far I have average 34mpg in 60/40 city/hwy driving. I expect to get more as I learn to drive the automated powershift transmission more efficiently (I have been driving manual for many years). |
