Reviewed: 2007 Ford Focus

2dr Hatch 136-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD

Why the 2007 Ford Focus?

Handling

Very responsive steering, great control on tight curves, tight turning circle for city driving, very stable at high speed (>90 mph), not upset by bumps and road iregularities

Powertrain performance

5 speed has great ratios for acceleration and cruising, good power balanced by good fuel economy, very smooth engine management

Driving position & visibility

With tilt / telescopic steering, and relatively high seating position, can get the ideal driving position. Large front windshield and side windows give great view of road and traffic

Reliability & durability

No problems with the car in terms of reliability, and holds up very well on the terrible roads we have in New Jersey

Exterior styling

Nice European appearance, aerodynamic without looking weird like a Prius

Why Not the 2007 Ford Focus?

Depreciation

Depreciation is higher than equivalent Japanese products, but with improvements Ford is making in their overall product line, this should improve. Not really that big a factor since usually keep cars for their full useful life, rather than frequent trade
