Why the 2007 Ford Focus?

Powertrain performance

Engine is solid with no problems to date. Power is not anything to write home about, but the car gets out of its own way and does not feel dangerously underpowered. Transmission shits nicely and the clutch has an easy feel and takes little to no effort to drive in traffic.

Front seat room

The front seat has more room than one would expect. I have yet to encounter someone who has not fit inside comfortably, despite their size. Being over 6ft tall, I drive daily without feeling cramped or enclosed.

Reliability & durability

I will be afraid to buy any other vehicle after owning this one. I have had so few problems of any sort, I do not know how it could get any better. The vehicle has been put through its paces and endured more than most, without faltering once. I would have no problem recommending this car to someone who needs a reliable vehicle.

Fuel economy

Car gets very respectable fuel economy. It is not a standout with todays new vehicles, but will hold its own. 100% city driving is usually met with a mpg average of approximately 28. This is good considering driving style is not suited for fuel mileage. On the highway, as long as speeds are kept around 70, the car will return figures from 32-37.

Reliability & durability

Other than 2 problems covered under the warranty, this car has caused no problems. Brakes lasted longer than expected. The only problems encountered were due to driver error.

Why Not the 2007 Ford Focus?

Quietness

Car is extremely loud on the highway. You tend to not notice it until you get out after a long stint on the highway.

Interior styling

Very plain design, with low cost materials. Expected for a vehicle that cost under 13000 new.

Driving position & visibility

Blindspots in cetain areas. Require thoughtful merging.

Rear seat room & comfort

Not the best, but ok for a 2 door hatch.

Safety & braking

Has minimal safety features. No ABS, side airbags, stability control, traction control. Very basic car.
