Honda Accord Reliability And Durability: Pros
Year | Comment |
2013 | Year after year, the Honda Accord has proved a reliable car. Of the 16 model years covered by TrueDelta's Car Reliability Survey, all but one get a "happy face." In contrast, the Genesis Coupe had a rough start back in 2009, and in the past year has required a moderate number of repairs. full 2013 Honda Accord review |
2014 | This "why to buy" is tentative. While the regular Accord's reliability has been excellent, Honda has produced some decidedly unreliable hybrids in the past. So I'd like to see more time and miles before declaring the new Accord Hybrid glitch-free. The new Fusion had a glitchy first year, including poor panel fits, but has improved since. full 2014 Honda Accord review |

2018 | I haven't listed reliability among the reasons to buy a new Accord because we have no data on it yet. Also, all-new Hondas can be somewhat glitchy in their first model year. Most likely, though, once any initial glitches are sorted out the new Accord will prove just as solid a bet as previous generations. Among competitors, only the Toyota Camry tends to be more reliable, and the difference is small enough that it shouldn't concern most people. And yet it's worth nothing that, while Honda has switched to new turbocharged engines, Toyota has stuck with naturally aspirated engines closely related to those used in the previous two generations of the car. The Honda's transmissions, a CVT with the 1.5T engine and an all-new ten-speed automatic with the 2.0T engine, are also iffier than the Toyota's more conventional and more proven six- and eight-speed transmissions. Honda has badly bothced new automatic transmission designs in the past. Concerned? Then get an Accord Sport with the six-speed manual. Thanks to their records of reliability, both sedans tend to hold their value much better than competitors. People pay crazy money for old Hondas. full 2018 Honda Accord review |

2014 | 4dr Sedan 189-horsepower 2.4L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
I have only had problems with the rear brake rotors over 3 years and 44000 miles. They were turned at around 20k miles due to pulsing, and I replaced them at 40000 miles due to pulsing. That is as good as it gets for any car I've ever owned. full 2014 Honda Accord review |
2013 | 4dr Sedan 278-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed automatic FWD |
It's been fairly reliable. I have put nearly 80,000 miles and so far I have only had to deal with brakes. full 2013 Honda Accord review |
2012 | 2dr Coupe 271-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed manual FWD |
Our past Hondas have been the most reliable cars we've owned. I would expect the Accord Coupe to be much more reliable long-term than the Volkswagen. full 2012 Honda Accord review |
2011 | 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Now approaching 140,000 miles and other than 2 sets of tires, only cost has been maintenance as called for by Miantenance Minder. I drove an 2008 Accord to 150,000 and passed on to a family member with similar experience (although brakes had been replaced). full 2011 Honda Accord review |

Wife had an Accord from 2000 and very little ever went wrong with it until it dropped the transmission July 2009. No brainer to get another one to serve as the every-day family car. full 2010 Honda Accord review |
2010 | 4dr Sedan 177-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
After owning and repairing many European cars, it is comforting to know that the Accord is much more likely than not to have extraordinary reliability and durability. It is a calming feeling. full 2010 Honda Accord review |

Honda Accord Reliability And Durability: Cons

2020 | 0 | The car feels durable and generally reliable, but expect some software glitches and likely more small issues than one may encounter in a Toyota. I still feel their cars to be more reliable than any American car though, and given the cars seem to have more thoughtfulness in their design/engineering I find this to be a worthwhile tradeoff.

Subaru seems to have struggled with their build consistency as demand for their vehicles has surged. Avoiding the first model years is a safe bet.

2006 | 2dr Coupe 244-horsepower 3.0L V6 5-speed automatic FWD |
This car has been at the dealer almost once every couple of months, it feels like the car is just falling apart in my hands. Just the other day the power window controls fell out of the door. The transmission sometimes refuses to go into gear from Park full 2006 Honda Accord review |
2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
My issue with the accord is at 38,000 miles I was told I had a broken motor mount. I am not sure why or how a broken motor mount would occur in under 3 years of ownership. I found that annoying because the car was maintained and not beaten on and this happens. Nothing better than coughing up $700.00 just before your child is born. full 2006 Honda Accord review |
2006 | 4dr Sedan 166-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed automatic FWD |
Another issue I had was around 60,000 miles, I had to replace the power steering pump. I heard this whine sound from under my hood and next thing I know, I am coughing up another $500 to replace the pump. I had all the fluids changed when recommended and this still happened. Between the motor mount and power steering pump, I have spent $1300 more on this accord than I did on my 99 Camry. full 2006 Honda Accord review |

2002 | 2dr Coupe 200-horsepower 3.0L V6 4-speed automatic FWD |
I bought the car so I could drive it, change the oil, and keep driving it. But from faulty fog lights, worn radio controls, two transmissions, two alternators, and numerous rattles, I have not reached my goal of maintenance-free driving and quality. full 2002 Honda Accord review |
