2024 Honda CR-V 4-door

4-cylinder automatic AWD

10800 mi Clogged fuel injector caused rough running. Suggested this to dealer, who proposed alternative causes. Dealer eventually concurred and ordered new set of injectors, which come as a set of four. Waited a few days for parts to arrive. This seems to be a common problem on this engine, which uses direct fuel injection. Dealer suggested using Techron fuel additive to keep injectors clean.

2017 Honda CR-V 4dr SUV

turbocharged 190hp 1.5L I4 CVT AWD

10000 mi Checked the oil and the oil level had increased. Smelled like gasoline. Honda paid for the needed oil change and looked into the engine codes for any warnings or errors related to fuel getting into the crank case.
14700 mi Oil fuel dillution problem, vehicle primarily driven highway. Dealer reports no fix at this time for rising oil level other than warranty oil changes. Oil level rising occuring in less than six start cycles and 300 miles. If problem ignored oil level will rise to critical drivability stage we're check engine light, misfire, and engine damage. Oil changes currently needed every 1500 miles. This vehicle is not used in short trips, but trips at 70mph for 25 miles.
84000 mi

US $300
Fuel injectors replaced. P0172 illuminated during trip. All driving nannies and cruise control rendered inoperative. Car constantly dings. Was actually difficult to determine what really going on because brake light traction light and other lights besides check engine light illuminate. Thanks Honda. Finished drive (300 miles) the old fashioned way. Long term fuel trims pegged at 20+. Oil recently changed so replaced injectors based on suspected faulty spray patterns. Problem is fixed. For now.
7000 mi Oil dilution issue. Oil is 1.5 quarts overfull from raw fuel in the oil. Heat also does not work in 20 degrees or less. These are associated problems.

2016 Honda CR-V 4dr SUV

185-horsepower 2.4L I4 CVT AWD

26000 mi Check engine light came on, but did not include "tighten gas cap" note, so we took it to the dealer. They indicated that this code was also "thrown" by a loose gas cap. No repair.
18000 mi Smell of gas in cabin due to defect pcv valve and tubing.
1000 mi Vibration at idle, while the vehicle is in gear. I was told that a factory rep would have to look at the vehicle, and that an appointment was two months out. I drove another new 2016 which had the same vibrations.
3000 mi Vibration at idle with foot on brake. Turns out they all do it. Honda did reset all engine mounts, which reduced it by about 40 percent.
6380 mi Vibration at idle and when driving at under 2200rpm.Honda CD recommends 1000km break-in period. Dealer found level of vibration To be normal. Mentioned significant issues with 2015. 30 CRV's were modified under warranty. By this dealer
13640 mi Gas odour inside the car. Gas smell inside my garage (no leaks). Gas smell pronounced when idling. Service advisor stated that it maybe related to the exhoust vent in the engine bay. There is a canister at the rear to control gas tank pressure.
16120 mi PCV hose replaced and oil change Hose was defective( porous) Oil changed without notice Reeks of gasoline
16740 mi Honda Canada took the car to CH and repaired certain manufacturing defects in an attempt to correct the cabin odour problem. So far a custom kit gas been installed to limit engine bay odours entering the cabin, the PCV hose was replaced, the timing case was removed and reinstalled. I've noticed that using Shell V Power 91 octane gas at Honda's suggestion produced immediate results. I also learnt that the 2.4L engine us now produced in Alliston. 100% of these engines are exported to the USA. None are used in the Canadian built LX. After 500kms I still have an intermittent gas odour problem. It is more pronounced with winter gas. Honda's advise was not to use Petro Canada gas and to use Shell 91 every 5000kms to clean the engine. I gave concerns about the longevity of this engine if Honda cannot or will not issue a TSB with a permanent solution . I've read that one CRV owner had his fuel injectors and O rings changed. I'm not a mechanic but ethanol seems to be at the root of the problem. I'm wondering if my engine was built in Alliston.

Customer paid for new spark plugs.
7440 mi Vehicle shudders at times approx 2000 RPM speed 111-120 KPH during steady speed or light acceleration. More noticeable during headwind, shudder comes and goes, possibly related to engine mounts or CVT transmission. No available fix, yet.

Had a spark plug come out while driving on the highway. Car was drivable, but was down on power (duh) and *loud*. Plug was lost, coil was destroyed, and the threads were wrecked. Also damaged were the plastic coil cover and the underhood insulation. After buying a new plug and coil and discovering that the new plug would not thread in I bought the Helicoil spark plug thread repair kit. Seems to be working fine. I was the last one in there, replaced the plugs at least 30k miles ago, so this was pretty surprising. Glad I didn't need to take the head off!

I tried Seafoam to see if the oil control rings were gunked up but had no success. A compression test didn't reveal anything either- 180-185psi across all 4 holes. Sold the car, bought a 4Runner.
