I would guess Infiniti would cater to the masses with styling, performance and a little more economy. I typically get 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway. Some of this is attributable to the 5 speed transmission on the car, which favors acceleration to economy. I imagine the 7 speed transmission should help the car get better highway economy. see full Infiniti EX review

I am using (per Ford) Regular 87 in it and it seems fine. I ran one tank of 93 Premium and did not notice a difference in performance or mileage. see full Ford Taurus review
2008	4dr Sedan 263-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed automatic FWD	It's got a 20 gallon tank and I basically never see 400 miles on the trip counter. 20mpg in mixed use (almost 40 mile round trip commute) has been something to get used to after living with a 4-cylinderMazda 6. In addition, when I hit 1/4 tank on the gas gauge, the range computer plummets to the point that I start planning a fuel stop within 50 miles of the 1/4 tank mark.
