Introduction

The review is for the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness, that Subaru has taken a leap into a more capable off-road vehicle for family adventures.
Powered by a turbocharged 2.4 Liter Boxer punching out 260 HP, it can when heavier trailers are going to be towed and equipped with electric braking systems for the trailer can tow up to 3500 pounds. A common camping trailer now on the market is the teardrop trailer. It is recommended that you order the Wilderness from the factory with the trailer hitch installed instead of having a dealership do it.
The Subaru parts accessories are not lacking, and if you don't want to tow a trailer but desire tent camping, the Wilderness can do that too, with an optional tent that will mount on the roof rails, which support up to 800 pounds, versus the 200-pound weight capacity of the standard Outback.
The unit we have has cross-traffic alert and emergency rear braking which is engaged while backing and has blind-spot detection.
There are optional skid-plates, and we have ordered those, but some are currently on back-order and will be installed later.
The navigation system is Tom-Tom but comes with a three-year free map upgrade, and the car is also a hotspot, with an optional subscription through AT&T.
Performance is very good, and with minimal body roll, the vehicle sticks to the pavement well in emergency maneuvers and has a very good emergency collision avoidance system rated amonng the best by Consumer Reports.
